Established in the early 1890s, this distinguished institution began as a modest social hub for British expatriates and has since evolved into a symbol of prestige and tradition. The club's iconic black-and-white Tudor-style architecture overlooks the historic Ipoh Padang, a seven-and-a-half-acre field that has witnessed significant events, including Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee celebrations in 1898 and the proclamation of Ipoh's municipality in 1962.

During the Japanese occupation in World War II, the club's premises were repurposed, reflecting the tumultuous history of the era. Post-independence, the Royal Ipoh Club embraced inclusivity, opening its doors to a broader membership while retaining its exclusive ambiance. In 1985, the club was honored with the "Royal" designation by Sultan Azlan Shah, further cementing its esteemed status.

Today, the Royal Ipoh Club offers a blend of historical charm and modern amenities. Members and their guests can enjoy a variety of facilities, including dining options, sports amenities, a well-stocked library and a calendar filled with social events. The club also provides seven 3-star rooms, catering to travelers seeking a unique and refined lodging experience.
