Teluk Intan Post Office
OPEN FOR PUBLIC. SOME AREAS MAY BE PROHIBITED.
CHARGES MAY APPLY FOR SOME AREAS OR ACTIVITIES.
Constructed in the 1890s, this historic post office is one of the few remaining British-era administrative buildings still in operation today. Its distinctive architecture, featuring an arched gateway inscribed with "Pejabat Pos", mirrors the design of the adjacent old police station, reflecting the architectural sensibilities of the pre-World War I era.
Strategically located between the old police station and the former Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation building, the Pejabat Pos Teluk Intan has long been a central hub for the community. In its early years, the post office offered a range of services beyond mail delivery, including voter registration, savings accounts and even lottery ticket sales—a practice that continued until the 1980s. Following the privatization of postal services in 1992, Pos Malaysia Berhad assumed responsibility for managing postal and courier operations in Teluk Intan.
Today, the Pejabat Pos Teluk Intan continues to serve the community with a blend of historical charm and modern convenience. Visitors can appreciate the building's preserved colonial architecture while accessing a variety of postal services. The post office is open from Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM and on Saturdays from 8:30 AM to 1:00 PM.
For those interested in exploring Teluk Intan's heritage, the Pejabat Pos Teluk Intan offers a unique glimpse into the town's past. Its enduring presence not only facilitates daily communications but also stands as a monument to the historical tapestry of the region.
