Established in 1915 during the reign of Sultan Idris Murshidul'adzam Shah, the 28th Sultan of Perak, the mosque was constructed on land endowed by the Sultan himself. The original structure featured an octagonal prayer hall crowned with a central dome, reflecting the architectural elegance of its era.
Over the decades, Ridzwaniah Mosque has undergone several transformations to accommodate the growing number of worshippers. In 1982, the original building was replaced with a new structure to better serve the community's needs. The current mosque, completed in August 1984, was officially inaugurated by Sultan Azlan Muhibbuddin Shah on 19 April 1985.
Today, Ridzwaniah Mosque is recognized as the district mosque of Kuala Kangsar, offering a range of facilities to its congregants. These include ablution areas, prayer spaces, meeting rooms and offices. The mosque is also equipped with amenities such as a library, dining area, kitchen and retail shops, ensuring a comfortable environment for worship and community activities.
Accessibility is a key feature of Ridzwaniah Mosque. It provides facilities for individuals with disabilities, including wheelchair-accessible prayer halls and restrooms. Ample parking is available, making it convenient for visitors. Additionally, the mosque houses a barber shop and is located near educational institutions like Tadika Islam Perak Al Itqaniah, further cementing its role as a community hub.
