Established in the 1930s on land endowed by Toh Puan Besar Hatijah, the mosque began as a humble wooden structure. Over the decades, it underwent transformations, including a brick reconstruction in the 1970s. In 2006, under the directive of the late Sultan Azlan Muhibbuddin Shah, the mosque was envisioned anew, culminating in a grand edifice that harmoniously blends tradition with modernity.
The mosque's design reflects a deep appreciation for Islamic artistry. Its main prayer hall is adorned with marble featuring hibiscus motifs and its side walls showcase stained glass tiles with tulip patterns, reminiscent of the Rüstem Pasha Mosque in Istanbul. Beyond its aesthetic appeal, the mosque is thoughtfully equipped with facilities such as elevators and ramps, ensuring accessibility for all worshippers.
