Established in 1898 to commemorate Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee, this expansive green space has evolved from a colonial-era cricket ground into a beloved public park that continues to play a central role in the lives of locals and visitors alike.

Spanning approximately 12 acres, Padang Ipoh offers a serene environment for various recreational activities. Its well-maintained lawns and shaded walkways provide an ideal setting for jogging, leisurely strolls or simply unwinding amidst nature. The park's open spaces are frequently utilized for community events, cultural festivals and sports tournaments, reflecting its status as a communal hub in Ipoh.

Beyond its recreational appeal, Padang Ipoh is surrounded by significant historical landmarks that enrich the visitor experience. The Ipoh War Memorial, located at the southern end of the park, honors the sacrifices of soldiers from World Wars I and II. Adjacent to the park is the historic Ipoh Cricket Club, founded in 1886, which remains one of the oldest cricket clubs in Malaysia. Nearby, the St. Michael’s Institution, one of Malaysia's oldest English schools, adds to the area's colonial charm.

Visitors to Padang Ipoh can also indulge in the local culinary scene, with popular eateries such as Miker Pizza and traditional stalls offering delights like cendol and rojak situated within walking distance. The park's central location at 13, Jalan S.P. Seenivasagam makes it easily accessible, whether by foot, public transport or ride-hailing services.

Open 24 hours a day, Padang Ipoh invites everyone to experience its blend of historical significance, natural beauty and community spirit. Whether you're seeking a peaceful retreat, a glimpse into Ipoh's past or a venue for cultural engagement, Padang Ipoh offers a multifaceted experience that captures the essence of the city.
