Housed in the original residence and shop of Dr. Ho Kai Cheong, this museum offers an intimate glimpse into the life of the visionary herbalist who, in 1941, formulated a unique blend of 29 natural herbs and premium Pu Erh tea leaves to create the renowned Ho Yan Hor herbal tea.
Dr. Ho's journey from a humble Chinese physician to the founder of a household brand is a testament to resilience and innovation. During the challenging post-war era, his herbal concoction provided affordable relief to tin mine laborers and the broader community, addressing common ailments like colds and fevers. His dedication to natural healing and community well-being laid the foundation for a legacy that continues to thrive today.
Visitors to the museum can explore a curated collection of artifacts, including vintage packaging, traditional brewing equipment and personal belongings of Dr. Ho. Interactive exhibits narrate the evolution of the Ho Yan Hor brand, from its local beginnings to its expansion into international markets such as Singapore, Thailand and Hong Kong by the 1960s.
A highlight of the visit is the opportunity to sample the original Ho Yan Hor herbal tea, allowing guests to experience the soothing flavors that have been cherished for over eight decades. The museum's ambiance, enriched by its preserved architecture and thoughtful displays, offers a nostalgic journey through time, celebrating the fusion of tradition and entrepreneurship.
