A poignant tribute to the valiant men from Perak who laid down their lives in defense of their nation. Unveiled on Armistice Day in 1927, this stone monument was initially dedicated to those who perished in World War I. Over time, it has been updated to honor the fallen of World War II, the Malayan Emergency, the Indonesian Confrontation, and the Re-insurgency Period. Notably, a plaque commemorates the prisoners of war who died constructing the Thailand-Burma Railway, reflecting the memorial's comprehensive homage to the sacrifices made across multiple conflicts.

Situated directly in front of the Ipoh Railway Station, the Cenotaph is an integral part of the city's historical landscape. The surrounding Ipoh Station Square, also known as Ipoh Heritage Square, serves as a gathering place for annual Remembrance Day and Anzac Day ceremonies, reinforcing the memorial's role as a living site of collective memory.

The Cenotaph War Memorial is accessible 24 hours a day, allowing visitors to reflect on the sacrifices of the past at their own pace. Its central location makes it an ideal starting point for a comprehensive exploration of Ipoh's rich historical tapestry.
