Baitul An-Nur stands as a testament to early 20th-century Malay aristocratic architecture.Constructed in 1912, this grand mansion was commissioned by Raja Kecil Sulung Harun Al-Rashid, a prince of Perak, for his third wife, Raja Mentera binti Raja Sir Chulan. The name "An-Nur" was chosen in honor of their firstborn son, Raja Anor Shah. The building was designed by the esteemed master craftsman Tukang Sofian, renowned for his work on several royal residences.

Situated on Jalan Istana, adjacent to the iconic Ubudiah Mosque, Baitul An-Nur offers visitors a glimpse into the opulence of Malay nobility. Although the mansion has fallen into a state of disrepair, its architectural features remain captivating. The structure showcases traditional Malay craftsmanship, with intricate woodwork and a distinctive yellow-painted balcony that adds to its charm. Photographers and history enthusiasts often visit to capture the juxtaposition of this heritage building against the backdrop of the majestic Ubudiah Mosque.

Despite its current condition, Baitul An-Nur holds significant historical value and potential as a cultural landmark. Its proximity to other historical sites in Kuala Kangsar makes it a worthy addition to any heritage trail in the region. Efforts to preserve and restore this mansion could provide future generations with a tangible connection to the rich history of Perak's royal lineage.
