The garden's design is a harmonious blend of aesthetic appeal and scientific purpose. It features themed areas such as the Palmatum Garden, showcasing a diverse collection of palm and cycad species and the Perak Malay Garden, which highlights plants native to the region, including the historically significant Ipoh tree (Antiaris toxicaria). Another notable section is the Northern Zone Endemic Garden, home to rare species like Maingaya malaya, a plant found in only a few locations worldwide.
Beyond its botanical collections, the garden serves as a center for education and research. Its establishment aims to promote awareness of plant conservation and to provide a space for scientific study. The Perak Botanical Garden is open daily from 8:30 AM to 7:00 PM, offering free entry to all visitors. Its proximity to other attractions, such as Bukit Larut and the Taiping Zoo, makes it an ideal addition to any travel itinerary in the region.
