Natural sanctuary that offers a refreshing escape into Malaysia’s lush rainforest. Fed by the cool, clear waters of Sungai Larut, this expansive rock pool is a favorite among locals and travelers seeking tranquility and a connection with nature. Its origins trace back to the 1920s when soldiers from the Burma Rifle Regiment discovered the site during their deployment in the region, giving the pool its enduring name.
The Burmese Pool is more than just a swimming spot; it’s a serene retreat where visitors can immerse themselves in the soothing sounds of cascading water and the gentle rustle of the surrounding jungle. The area features natural rock formations that create shallow pools, making it ideal for families and individuals looking to relax. Picnic areas are available and the presence of local wildlife, such as monkeys, adds to the natural charm of the location.
Accessibility is straightforward, with the pool located approximately 2 kilometers from the Taiping Lake Gardens. Visitors can follow signposts through the gardens to reach the site. The area is equipped with basic amenities, including restrooms and food stalls, enhancing the convenience for day-trippers.
While the Burmese Pool offers a picturesque setting for relaxation and recreation, visitors are encouraged to be mindful of safety, as the rocks can be slippery and to help maintain the area's cleanliness by disposing of litter properly. This ensures that the natural beauty of Kolam Burma remains unspoiled for future visitors.
